Abbott Nutrition: Alliance to Advance Patient Nutrition

The Academy is a founding member of the Alliance to Advance Patient Nutrition, an interdisciplinary consortium dedicated to clinician collaboration across hospital settings in the U.S. to identify and address adult hospital nutrition. The Alliance is committed to raising awareness about malnutrition and championing for early nutrition screening, assessment and intervention in hospitals amongst the entire patient care team. The Alliance consists of leaders from the Academy of Medical-Surgical Nurses, Society of Hospital Medicine, and the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Support from Academy sponsor Abbott Nutrition helps make the Alliance possible.

The Alliance recognizes that registered dietitian nutritionists are the most knowledgeable professionals on patient nutrition; a vital source of information on the positive impact of nutrition on the quality of patient care; and a key driver of nutritional collaboration among all hospital clinicians.
