One of the benefits of being an Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics member is belonging to a local affiliate (state) dietetic association. These geographically affiliated organizations of the Academy include the 50 states, Puerto Rico, the District of Columbia and the American Overseas Dietetic Association. AODA is the Academy's international component and consists primarily of any Academy member that works or lives outside the United States.

Members of affiliates enjoy the opportunity to be recognized for their contribution to the dietetics profession, the Academy and their local affiliate through the Affiliate Awards.
